Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Arrives, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
